Clear Selection To Choose Again!

4130 Mechanical Tubing For High-Stress Applications

4130 tubing available in a wide variety of sizes, range, type, and schedule-class, Precision 4130 Seamless Mechanical Steel Tubing is widely used in the manufacture of hydraulic cylinders for heavy equipment like aerospace, motorsports, cranes, excavators, forklifts, front loaders, and other high-stress applications like the fossil fuel industry. 4130 Tubing is cold drawn and a lightweight alternative to carbon steel. Compared to DOM, 4130 is typically stronger and lighter weight.

Specifics of 4130 Tubing

  • ASTM A519 4130
  • AMS 6360M
  • AMS-T-6736B
  • Mil-T-6736 Condition N
  • AIRFRAME Alloy Tubing
  • DIN EN10204-01.05

Typical 4130 Seamless Mechanical Steel Tubing Facts:

  • Cold Working – Cold working by conventional methods is common with this alloy.
  • Annealing – 4130 can be annealed at 1550 F for a time long enough to allow thorough heating of the section size. However, it should be cooled in the furnace at a rate of less than 50 F per hour down to 900 F, followed by air cooling from 900 F.
  • Tempering – Tempering to restore the ductility that may have been lost after the hardening heat treatment and quench. Alloy 4130 is tempered at between 750 F and 1050 F depending upon strength desired. The lower the tempering temperature the greater the strength.

  • Low carbon content for excellent welding characteristics
  • High Yield Strength and Tensile Strength
  • More responsive to mechanical and heat than carbon steels
  • Can be easily machined with conventional methods
  • Tempering, Annealing, Forging, Cold and Hot Working, and Tempering can all be achieved
